The Booze Hags: A Beginning

Hey there! Welcome to The Booze Hags.

This is a plucky little project borne from the minds (and appetites) of two Melbourne gals hungry to explore more in the delicious world of drinking.

You could say that Cassie and I were peripherally aware of the fact that we were the main ones geeking out over a good bottle of wine at social events, or the only two left asking for another glass – but it wasn’t until recently that we really accepted our true nature as booze hags. And you know what? It was a really liberating feeling.

To booze hag is to embrace the pleasure of drinking, and of drinking well. This isn’t about problematic drinking habits, but about shaking off any shame around the enjoyment of drinking and making space instead to learn more about what we love and why.

We both love food and travel, and drinking is such a wonderful part of those for us too. We’re super excited to make 2018 a huge year for all of these things and to share it here for anyone keen to explore along with us. We’ve got a lot to learn – but we’re lucky that Melbourne makes one heck of a city for such an exquisite education.

So here’s a toast to this big, boozy adventure – and to all our fellow booze hags. Cheers!

Terri,
Booze Hag

The term ‘booze hag’ is lovingly borrowed from a good friend, Sheena of Chasing a Plate, who brings the NZ-native moniker from across the ditch. I’m told that this term can be used in nasty ways, but Cassie and I find it delightful: feminine, wizened, kinda mystical and a bit cheeky. Perfect.
